Goa getting there

Travel to Arambol

This tiny state along the Konkan Coast 3702 sq km with a coastline approximately 100 kilometres. Goa is divided into two districts South and North Goa. Arambol is located in the north, close to the Maharashtra border.

By Air to Goa Airport (Dabolim Airport)

Previously air travel ended in the airport of Mumbai, about 3-4 hours’ drive with a taxi, today quite expensive. However, 2013 the Indian Government opened a brand new airport (and military) Dabolim Airport or Goa Airport (IATA: GOI, ICAO: VOGO). Almost any carrier takes you from your arrival to destination Goa Airport. Nevertheless, if staying for a long time, I advise having a possible open return possibility included. The prices two/way from Europe to Goa lowest price around $650 US or ₠ 580 Euro. My recommended carrier is Qatar, is a little bit more expensive around $800 with an open return (cost $95). It’s a fast route, from Oslo – Goa, one stop at Doha airport, where restaurants and bars serves excellent food, in addition, a severe selection of tax-free shopping includes brand such as Gucci, Prada and Lacoste and the latest fashion of electronics The total flight time is 14 hours, compared with other carriers 16-24 hours of travelling.

Indian old buses

GOA Airport – Arambol

  • Taxi
    • The best option is taxi as its inexpensive and you support local business, price around $26. The drive takes around one hour depending on the traffic.
  • Bus
    • Bus from Goa Airport to Arambol by bus takes 2 hours and 55 minutes. The bus line 39, a bus ticket cost nearly nothing $1.5 US. However, 15 minutes stop connecting with another bus from Harmal via Panjim. You will be guided by the driver.
  • Rental cars
    • Renting a car is another option, however, Indian driving culture will be a new experience and quite dangerous also. All major car hire companies have offices, nevertheless, make a reservation on the Internet as many times experienced no cars available
  • Travelling to Arambol from another part of the State
    • Arambol have only one bus stand, at the beginning of the main road, getting to and from town is a simple matter and regular services depart for Mapusa and Pernem. Those travelling through Goa and further south should pick up a connecting bus in Mapusa, and for the north and into Maharashtra, at Pernem. The nearest train station, at Pernem, is on the main line running north into Maharashtra, and onto Mumbai, and south, into Goa.
